Assala

Born in Damascus, Syria, Asala is the daughter of the renowned Syrian composer and singer, Mostafa Nasri. She began her musical career at the age of four, performing patriotic, religious, and children's songs. She sang the opening theme song "Qessas Al Sho'oub" (Arabic: قصص الشعوب) for the cartoon show Hekayat Alamiyah (Arabic: حكايات عالمية). In 1986, at 17, she lost her father and helped her mother, Azizah, care for her siblings: Reem, Amani, Ayman, and Ayham.
