The song was written by Avril herself with Butch Walker who also produced the track. Originally, Avril wanted the song to be released as the lead single from the album but the label chose to push Don't Tell Me first instead. My Happy Ending debuted at #70 on the Billboard Hot 100 on the week of July 31 .
