"My December" is a Hybrid Theory B-side written and recorded for Los Angeles alternative rock radio station KROQ-FM. Anchored by a four-note piano bass arpeggio and sparse programmed elements, the track contrasts with the style and production of the band's debut album, but hearkens back to earlier works of theirs such as "She Couldn't" for its melancholic, programming-heavy style. "My December" was written at the request of KROQ-FM in Los Angeles .
